PURPOSE:To reduce the consumption quantity of power supply by turning on the power supply of a reader for a recording medium according to the mounting of the card-shaped recording medium and turning off this power supply after the lapse of a fixed time. CONSTITUTION:A switch set part 2 turns on a power supply changeover switch 1 according to the input of a card detection signal and an optical card reader 40 is connected with a power source 39. Then, the optical card reader 40 is operated. On the other hand, a timer 4 starts counting a time according to the input of the card detection signal after a magnetic card or an optical card is mounted. A comparison part 6 compares the count value of the timer 4 with a value set in a time set part 5 beforehand. When the count value of the timer 4 is more than the set value, the power supply changeover switch 1 is turned off since the switch set part 2 is reset. Thus, the useless energy consumption can be reduced. |
