1339481 Solid electrolytes UNION CARBIDE CORP 15 July 1971 [16 July 1970] 33157/71 Heading H1B An ionic conductor having a specific conductance at 25‹ C. of at least 5 x 10<SP>-4</SP> ohm<SP>-1</SP> cm.<SP>-1</SP> comprises a ternary composition containing silver iodide as one component, an alkali metal iodide or alkali metal cyanide as a second component, the alkali metal being potassium, rubidium or cesium, and as a third component an iodide or cyanide of manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, gallium, cadmium, indium, tin, gold, mercury or thallium. The preferred composition comprises silver iodide, potassium iodide and zinc cyanide having the molar composition 4AgI-KI-Zn(CN) 2 . The conductor is intended for use as an electrolyte in a solid state cell having a silver anode. |
