PURPOSE: To protect a bridging part against strain by an arrangement wherein a heat exchanger has a matrix including a laminate of primary plates spaced apart from each other through flexible spacers such that fluid is not conducted between first and second channel of heat exchanging fluid. CONSTITUTION: Low temperature air passing through an inlet tube 21 flows through a cut 23 into a surrounding chamber 17. A guide blade 24 in an area 19 ensures the air delivered from the cut 23 is directed to pass a passage defined by a thin corrugated plate 15 in the chamber 17 entirely. Subsequently, the air is directed by the guide blade 24 to pass through the cut 23 of an outlet tube 22 and enter into the outlet tube 22 before exiting a heat exchanger 10. Although a high temperature gas flow 12 flows between sets of primary plates 14 not coupled by a surrounding member 16, a low temperature air flow passes from the inlet tube 21 through the chamber 17 and flows in the direction opposite to the high temperature gas flow 12. Since two gas flows are separated only through the primary plate 14, they have reverse heat exchange relationship.
