Non-rotating non-detonated projectile with drive plate

The components, all made of high-density material, for a spinning subcalibre projectile which is fregmented by internal stresses on striking a target, include an axial pin occupying most of the projectile length and ending in a rear plug. Abutting this plug and surrounding the pin are stacked separable rings with radial grooves to aid fragmentation, which may also be facilitated by the radial force component derived from a frusto-conical face on the plug, which may have detonating material in a rear face cavity. Fitted on the leading end of the pin is a shaped integral pyrophoric tip. One of the numerous possible modifications has a central cavity filled with pellets.
