PURPOSE:To obtain the information recording medium which allows easy tracking and is low in cost and high in accuracy by forming ruggedness on a recording layer contg. a high-polymer liquid crystal compd. CONSTITUTION:The information recording medium is constituted by forming the recording layer 3 contg. the high-polymer liquid crystal compd. on a substrate 1 and providing a reflecting layer 4 thereon. The ruggedness is provided on the recording layer 3 and the difference in the height thereof is preferably specified in a 500Angstrom to 1mum range. The optical phase difference generated by projecting parts in recesses is preferably specified to 1/32lambda to 1/4lambda with respect to the wavelength lambda of laser light. The easy application of the conventional tracking system is possible in this way and since the formation together with the recording layer by a stamper is possible, the information recording medium having the high accuracy is obtd.
