The slat comprises an elongate member with two facing surfaces and a non-planar transverse profile, said member including a resin, fibrous means for retaining it and surface means for giving the slat the appearance and feel of a textile material. The blind comprises a number of practically horizontal textile slats, means for supporting them at preset heights, means for raising the slats and means for tilting them, each slat carrying the aforesaid elongate member in order to confer on it sufficient stiffness so that it does not sag when in a practically horizontal configuration. The slat and the blind of the invention are useful for protecting rooms and other enclosures against exposure to solar radiation accompanied by high levels of humidity and temperature. <IMAGE>
