Boric acid esters of N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-amides, or of N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-amides of C12-C22 saturated or unsaturated fatty acids are useful as friction modifiers, rust-preventing- and corrosion-combating additives for lubricant oils. Lubricant compositions containing such additives are also described.
