PURPOSE:To allow fine patterning by specifying repetitive frequencies to a prescribed value or below to unify the line width of patterning traces at the time of forming the patterns by irradiating the transparent electrodes consisting of ITO on a polyester film with a YAG laser. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal display element A is constituted of upper and lower substrates 1, 2 consisting of a plastic material formed by using the polyester film and the transparent electrode layers 3 respectively consisting of the ITO are laminated to a prescribed thickness on the opposite surfaces of the substrates 1, 2. An orientation agent 4 is then applied thereon and gap materials 5 are interposed between the treated substrates 1 and 3. The substrates 1, 2 are stuck to each other by a sealing material 7 along the end edge thereof and a liquid crystal 6 is sealed between the substrates 1 and 2. Further, deflecting plates 8 are provided on the surfaces of the substrates 1, 2 and the wavelength of the YAG laser is set at the wavelength half the wavelength of the basic wave at the time of patterning the electrode layers 3 of the liquid crystal element A, by which the selective removal of the ITO layers is executed without damaging the polyester film. |
