PURPOSE:To obtain a rewritable optical recording medium which can erase more quickly by composing the recording film of an optical recording medium of at least one of a group of Sb, Te and Ge and a group of Pd, Ni and Ag and Au in a specific composition. CONSTITUTION:The present optical recording medium has a recording layer and a deformation preventing layer, both of which are formed on a substrate. With respect to the composition of the recording layer, metallic elements such as Pd, Ni, Ag and Au, all of which are represented by M in formula I are added to Sb-Te2 element mainly made of Sb and Te. To further improve the heat stability of the amorphous alloy, stoichiometric compound GeTe is added. The recording layer of the optical recording medium is crystalized in a solid phase that can be recognized as a single phase, and when the amorphous state is switched to a crystalized state, the recording layer hardly develops phase separation. Consequently, a crystalizing speed is high, and the recording medium can record, erase and rewrite at a high speed. |
