Human placentral lactogen (HPL) was produced by hybridoma cells following cell growth as an implant in an animal. Thus, cells from a human choriocarcinoma were fused with Namalevaf human leukenic lymphoblasts. After cloning, the selected cells were implanted i.p. in adult nude mice. After 5 wk, the resulting massive tumors were removed and disaggregated. The cells were incubated in pH 7.2 Earle 199 medium contg. 10% fetal calf serum and 30mM arginine at 35≦̸C for 20 hrs. and then ultrasonicated. The yield of HPL was 340 μg/ml.
