PURPOSE:To wepsilon¦d easily the butt pipe having a narrow gap with the adjoining other pipe by preceding a welding head along the welding line guided by the groove guide roller which is fitted to the groove face of a butt pipe. CONSTITUTION:A leaf spring driving member 36 is rotated on the forward rotation of a driving motor 35 and a leaf spring 38 is accordingly moved in the same direction while being wound on the step part 4a of a rotary body 4. The rotary body 4 is rotated under the guidance of the groove guide roller 8 which is fitted to a groove face 10. A welding head is rotated as well in the same direction along the welding line X-X accordingly. An arc is simultane ously generated between the groove face 10 of a pipe 11 and an electrode 60 and the welding of butt pipes 11, 12 is performed in an argon gas atmosphere. The welding head 6 thus welds the groove face 10 of the butt pipes 11, 12 rotating along the welding line X-X. |
