Device for shutting off gas supply lines to ensure safety

A device for shutting off gas supply lines, especially domestic supply lines, to ensure safety has a shut-off valve arranged in the line. This valve has a valve element, an operating shaft and a handle mounted on the latter. The handle consists of a part connected positively to the operating shaft and of a supported actuating part which is connected to the aforementioned part by way of a locking means that includes a thermal release element. The first part is subject to the action of an energy storage means that rotates the operating shaft into the closed position and the actuating force of which is released only on release of the locking means by the thermal release element. At least one sensor for recording a measured variable representing a safety risk is provided and the thermal release element is assigned an electric heating element which lies in a circuit controlled by the sensor.
