A tear-open strip opening on packages of plastic-coated composite material having a wrapped-around web seam closure, characterised in that the web seam closure (10), has, in a first seam zone (19) extending from a longitudinally side edge (17) of a first packaging surface (2) substantially as far as the wrappedaround edge of a second packaging surface (6) connected to the first packaging surface (2) via the web seam closure (10), at least one full cut (8,22,23,27,28) formed by an incision in the first packaging surface (2) and in a second seam zone (15) in the prolongation of the full cut and adjoining the fist seam zone (14), at least one weakening line (11,12,24,25,29) which extends beyond the second seam zone (15) as far as that zone of the first packaging surface (2) which contacts the material with which the packaging (21,32) is filled.
