A row of fasteners provided with staples placed in a standby position is fixed on the end of a conveyor belt by means of a stationary operating head comprising a staple-inserting punch, a movable die having the function of bending-back the staple ends, a frame which can be installed at a fixed point on any suitable support such as a bench, a guide on which is slidably mounted a movable bar having the function of a support for the end of a conveyor belt and for the row of fasteners to be fixed thereon. The movable bar is provided with a series of uniformly spaced openings for receiving the heads of the staples which initially project from one of the arms of the fasteners. The operating head is also provided with means for immobilizing the movable bar in each successive useful position of cooperation with the operating head for fixing the different fasteners in position one after the other.
