<p>PURPOSE:To regenerate a mercury collecting agent, by contacting the mercury collecting agent whose capacity is lowered by collection of mercury and formation of mixed sulfides with an alkali metal sulfide solution. CONSTITUTION:In a mercury collecting agent comprising metal sulfide such as copper sulfide or bismuth sulfide insoluble in alkali metal sulfide, said mercury collecting agent, of which mercury collecting capacity is lowered by already collecting mercury and forming mixed sulfides with mercury, is contacted with an alkali metal sulfide solution containing Na2S or the like. By this method, only mercury is dissolved out into the alkali metal sulfide solution to return the mercury collecting agent to a sulfide form as well as to restore the mercury collecting capacity thereof.</p> |
