<p>A high temperature, high pressure oxygen furnace is fabricated from an alloy having a composition of at least 45 % nickel, 15 % chrome and 10 % tungsten. The alloy is fabricated into 1 1/4 inch bar (B) and has a length of about 17 inches. This bar (B) is gun drilled for over 16 inches of its length with a 0.004 inch aperture (14) to define a closed, high temperature, high pressure oxygen chamber. The opposite and closed end of the bar (B) is provided with a small support aperture into which both a support (24) and a thermocouple (26) can be inserted. The closed end of the gun drilled bar is inserted into an oven (F), preferably heated by standard nickel chrome electrical elements (E) and having a heavily insulated exterior.</p> |
