The microcomputers (MC1 to MC2n) of the microcomputer system form groups (1, 2) of microcomputers (MC11 to MC1n, MC21 to MC2n) which lie on their own buses (B1, B2) which are administered by their own bus controls (ST1, ST2/EB2). These buses are coupled, via bus coupling groups (BKB1/0, BKB0/1; BKB2/0, BKB0/2) which co-operate in pairs either directly or by a common main bus (B0) which is administered by a separate bus control (ST0/EB0). Data are transmitted from a microcomputer (MC11) of one group (1) to a microcomputer (MC23) of another group (2) in several steps via the bus coupling groups (BKB1/0, BKB0/1, BKB0/2, BKB2/0) lying on the transmission path. The bus coupling groups behave at their buses as the microcomputers connected thereto, i.e., they make requests concerning bus utilisation via request lines and, after receiving permission to utilize a bus, transmit data and addresses to the corresponding data receiver. An address window which is adjusted to the addresses of all microcomputers (MC21 to MC2n) to be reached from the first bus coupling group (BKB1/0, BKB0/2) of each pair of bus coupling groups in the direction of transmission and which is established by a lower and an upper limit address is assigned to said first bus coupling group; the bus coupling groups (BKB0/2) which supply from the main bus (B0) are set to address windows (01000000 to 01011111) whose limit addresses are defined by the highest and the lowest address of those microcomputers (MC21 to MC2n) which can be reached via the relevant bus coupling group. The device according to the invention permits operation of microcomputer systems of any size using bus controls to administer a limited number only of request lines. |
