The manual punching tongs punches holes for cooling water in the wall of a hollow punch (10). The tongs have handles which are connected by a pivot bolt and actuate two levers (6,7) pivoting on a bolt. One lever (6) is fitted with a punch (6a), whilst the outer end of the other lever (7) forms a die (7a) for the punch. The die has an end face with a central region (7c), which is raised by a distance (h) above the surrounding region. The surfaces of both regions are flat and parallel to each other. The raised die central region enables it to fit in the space between two cutting inserts (10b) of the hollow punch. ADVANTAGE - Reliable function, without damaging the hollow punch.
