<p>A method of providing an aperture in an article (10) using a laser (47) comprises feeding the article (10) into a chamber through an inlet (35) thereof, retaining the article (10) in a selected position within the chamber (25). The laser (47) is operated to direct a beam produced thereby to impinge upon a predetermined part of the article (10) to make the aperture.
