A theromplastic layer (1) directly covers the laminated structure consisting of a spot-wise heatable heating resistances layer (7) with vapour deposited conductor paths (8,9) facing each other at: a distance (a). The latter serves as a common return lead and counter electrode lying at earth. For charging, the covering layer (1) is advantageously provided with a covering electrode in the form of a vapour-deposited metal layer. The spacing (a) can be filled with insulating material so that the theromplastic layer forms a flat surface in unused state. The counter electrode is separated from the resistance layer by means of an insulated layer and formed to be completely flat. USE/ADVANTAGE - Electrophotographic type printer. All image information in digital form directly converted to optical form by means of temp gradients and electrical field produced by electrical signals.
