This agent is used in the sulphate method for extracting cellulose. It enhances the output of cellulose and improves its physio-mechanical parameters. The agent is an alkaline-activated, hydrolysed lignin with MM 1,100, and contains (in %) : phenol OH groups (2.69), COOH groups (1.76), aliphatic OH groups (4.14), methoxyl groups (7.78) and carbonyl groups (2.70). Also, in some cases, oxidized, alkaline-activated hydrolysed lignin MM 1,050, which contains (in %) : phenol groups (5.25), COOH groups (2.60), aliphatic OH groups (4.16), methoxyl groups (6.62), carbonyl groups (3.72), and between 0.2 and 1% of dry timber.
