PURPOSE:To indicate a load quantitatively by providing a fuzzy inference device which infers whether the loss of a DC motor exceeds the rated value according to the inputs of the voltage applied on the DC motor and the rotation speed in compliance with a fuzzy rule prepared in advance. CONSTITUTION:A target evaluation device 1 of a fuzzy inference device 5 is to evaluate a state X of an object to be controlled (DC motor), and a fuzzy inference component 2 carries out fuzzy inference in compliance with a fuzzy rule on receipt of the outputs from the target evaluation device 1, and outputs the inferred results. The state X is represented by the applied voltage V on the DC motor and the rotation speed N. A loss value PLOSS of the DC motor and an electric current value I are calculated according to the data on the applied voltage V and the rotation speed N, and the fuzzy inference component 2 infers whether the loss of the DC motor exceeds the rated value according to the calculated values in compliance with the fuzzy rule. When the loss exceeds the rated value, the fuzzy inference component 2 outputs an excess value OVERW to indicate its quantitative figure on an indicator which is used in common for indicating a pattern, etc.
