PURPOSE:To obtain superior fixability and good development performance by extruding a melted and kneaded toner material from a nozzle to form a monofilament having a diameter equal to that of the toner and cutting it by a length corresponding to that of the toner. CONSTITUTION:The raw materials of the toner comprising a binder resin and a colorant and the like are mixed in a premixer 1, melted and kneaded in a heat kneader 2, and extruded through the nozzle 3 at the end having fine pores. It is preferred to form a large number of fine pores from the viewpoints of the pressure to be applied and production efficiency, and the inner diameter of the nozzle 3 is adjusted to the desired diameter of the toner. The monofilament 4 extruded from the nozzle 3 is cut with a cutting device 5. Stretching the monofilament 4 with a stretching device is effective in enhancing productivity by enlarging the nozzle 3 diameter. The diameter of the monofilament 4 can be adjusted to a desired size by stretching, thus permitting fixability to be enhanced and toner performance to be improved by a low-cost manufacturing process. |
