Apparatus is disclosed for transplanting a plant or seedling from one container, preferably in the form of a chain of connected cells (11), moved along a first path (10), to a prepared planting position in a second container moved along a second path (16) located transverse to and below the first path (10), the apparatus including ejection means (76) to remove the plant or seedling from the one container, a first movement member (79) being provided to move the seedling or plant from the ejected position transversely along a first plant delivery path (60) into a downwardly extending guide chute (65) that enables the plant or seedling to be positively moved along a second plant delivery path (64) defined by the guide chute (65). |
