<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain melting of iron scrap by adjusting height of top blowing lance corresponding to position of upper surface of the iron scrap or molten metal surface. CONSTITUTION:The iron scrap 8 and lump coke 1 are charged layer by layer into a top and bottom blowing converter 12. Oxygen gas is supplied from a top blowing lance 6 and bottom blowing tuyeres 10 until the charged iron scrap 8 is completely melted down. Together with this, based on the measured value with a microwave range finder 9, height of the lance 6 is adjusted so as to always come to the prescribed position above the iron scrap 8 or from the molten metal surface. Confirmation of melting is executed by detecting the position of molten metal surface with the microwave range finder 9, and just after that, by tilting the furnace, the melting is reconfirmed with visual observation. By this method, energy which carbon-containing material passesses is efficiently supplied into the iron scrap 8 and the efficient melting of the iron scrap 8 can be realized.</p> |
