METHOD FOR WINDING FILAMENT YARNS

A filament yarn is wound onto a core by winding an initial portion of the yarn thickness while maintaining the traversing speed of a yarn guide at a value unrelated to the core spindle speed to produce a random wind. The subsequent portion winding occurs while decreasing the traversing speed in proportion to the decreasing stational speed of the spindle. The traversing speed is increased rapidly at the end of each sequential step to produce a stepped precision wind.
