PURPOSE:To promote activity for methacrolein, etc., by heat-treating in advance a mixture of specified quantities of each Bi component, Sb component, Mo component, W component, etc., at a temperature of 700-850 deg.C and preparing catalyst from the compound made from said mixture. CONSTITUTION:A mixture is prepared by mixing specified quantities of Mo, W, Bi, Fe, Sb, and chlorides and sulfates of K, Rb, Mg, Pb, P, B, etc. And then the mixture is heat-treated at a temperature of 700-850 deg.C for 2-5 hours to produce catalyst for use in manufacturing methacrolein and methacrylic acid represented by the formula I (A: Ni, Co; X: K, Pb, etc.; Y: Mg, Zn, Pb, etc.; when a is 12, then b=0.01-2, c=0.01-3, d=0.5-5, e=0.01-3, f=1-12, g=0.01-2, h=0.01-10, i=0-20). |
