Backing plate for brake linings

A novel backing plate for brake linings is described, having a surface coating consisting of a combination of a zinc or zinc-nickel layer, and a chromated layer resting thereon, with impregnated inserts of condensation resin introduced thereinto. For the manufacture of these novel backing plates, the cleaned punched blank of solid metal is first electrochemically treated in a zinc or zinc-nickel bath, subsequently chromated and then subjected to an impregnation with a liquid condensation resin, which is dried before the adhesive layer is applied to the joining side of the backing plate, and dried and the friction material is pressed on while hot.
