PURPOSE: To deteriorate phase noise characteristics by providing a surface wave transmitting face and converters combined therewith on a base, disposing an odd-order transverse mode at the position having the energy maximum value and harmonizing the frequency with a basic mode. CONSTITUTION: A surface acoustic wave resonator 30 has a face 31a for supporting surface wave transmission on a base 31, and a pair of converters 32 and 34 are combined with that face. Then, the odd-order transverse mode is disposed in an area having the energy maximum value of the transmitting face 31a. Then, a device capable of locally changing a surface wave speed characteristic in the area by adjusting the frequency of the transverse mode so as to coincide with the frequency of the basic mode. Thus, the phase noise characteristics caused from the existence of high-order transverse mode in the surface acoustic wave resonator is deteriorated. |
