PURPOSE:To allow stable processing with high accuracy by supporting a condenser lens by a magnetostrictive material, providing the condenser lens in such a manner that the mechanical position thereof can be displaced in an optical axis direction and applying a prescribed magnetic field to the magnetostrictive material to generate a deflection. CONSTITUTION:A work 11 and a laser beam tip 4 are so provided that the positional relations thereof can be varied by the intensity of the magnetic field impressed to the magnetostrictive material 5. The strain quantity of the magnetostriction changes and the distance (d) between a processing head 2 and the work 11 changes when the current (i) of a coil 6 is changed. The laser beam tip 4 is, therefore, displaced by displacing a condenser lens holder 7 supported by the magnetostrictive material 5. The excellent effect by the magnetostrictive material is expected in this way. Since the generating power is large, the substitution to a stroke expansion by combining this device with a speed-increasing mechanism is possible. The uniformity of an energy distribution occurring in small hysteresis is good and the high-accuracy processing is executed. Since the heat resistance is good, the stable environmental resistance is obtd. |
