The invention relates to a machine for shucking corn, which comprises: a hollow drum capable of rotating round a substantially horizontal longitudinal shaft; at least one fixed station around the periphery of the drum, which comprises a pair of cooperating rollers, each of which has a diameter of 1 to 3 cm, with the respective shafts located substantially parallel to the longitudinal shaft of the drum, and which are displaced around the periphery of the drum, while they rotate, in such a manner that they are substantially in a side-by-side position at the top, and at the base of the drum; means for rotating the rollers at a speed of between 20 and 250 rpm in opposite directions, in such a manner that they are displaced downwards at their point of contact when in the upper part of the drum; means for providing ears of corn to the upper surface of the rollers when they are located substantially in the arc in the upper third of the drum, in such a manner that, during operation, the leaves of the ears of corn are captured by the rotating rollers, torn from the corncobs and propelled via the gap between the rollers, leaving the corncobs in the upper part of the rollers; means for collecting the leaves; and means for collecting the shucked corncobs.<IMAGE> |
