<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a cellulosic fibrous aggregate by a method wherein after a plurality of sections of cellulosic fibrous material are softened, pressing operation is performed to form a compressed matrix and then, this is dewatered and consolidated to form a consolidated matrix. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of sections of cellulosic fibrous material are softened by acting an aqueous softening agent at elevated temp. and thereby, the cellulosic crosslinkings in the cellulosic fibrous material are at least partially broken down. The softened sections of the cellulosic fibrous material are collected and pressed together to form a compressed matrix. Then, the compressed matrix is dewatered and consolidated to form a consolidated matrix. The softening agent used in this time contains an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal hydroxide or carbonate water soln. and the softening process is performed at a temp. of approximately 80-100 deg.C. In addition, the next compression process is performed under a pressure of 25-150 bar. In addition, the consolidating operation is performed under a pressure of 5-150 bar. An adhesive used in this case comprises a linear alternating copolymer formed of an olefin type unsatd. compd. and carbon monoxide.</p> |
