PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas filled switching discharge tube with long life and improved discharging property at life test. SOLUTION: For the switching discharge tube with the gas filled in a sealed space formed inside a cylinder-shaped body including a discharge gap, comprising a cylinder-shaped body (1) made of insulation material, and two electrodes (2, 3) airtightly sealing both ends of the cylinder-shaped body, a metallized surfaces are formed on both surface touching the electrodes of the cylinder- shaped body, and first trigger wires (10a, 10b), connected with the metallized surface, formed on the inside wall surface of the cylinder-shaped body, and second trigger wires (10c), not connected with the metallized surface, formed on the inside wall surface of the cylinder-shaped body, are formed. The number of the second trigger wires is made bigger than the number of the first triggers, and the distance of the discharging gap (t) is made longer than the distance (d) from the second trigger wires to the electrode surface, and a plurality of concave parts (23) are formed on the electrode surface.
