Hydrocarbon, organic compounds and chlorinated hydrocarbons are removed from outgoing air by adsorption in activated carbon followed by a desorption of them and transfer in a catalytic oxidation reactor and a catalytic oxidation of these substances. The laden outgoing air passed from the duct (8) to the sector (4) of the activated carbon adsorber (2) which is divided in three sectors (4,5,6). The sector (5) lies in a desorption circuit (12) and the sector (6) in a cooling circuit. The former includes heat exchangers (46,56,58), a dryer (48), a heater (50) a catalytic oxidation reactor (52) and two blowers (54,60). The latter contains a heat exchanger (70) and a blower (72). USE/ADVANTAGE - For the outgoing air from paint and lacquer spraying cabinets, printing shops and in the chemical industry. This meets the requirements of the Technical Inspector and minimises the pollution of the environment. The activated carbon is regenerated and need not be replaced.
