The cover material fastener has a stiffener at each abutting cover section, insertable into a U-shaped holder, open to one side. One stiffener (5) has an L-shaped cross-section which extends by its short shank (5b) beneath the other stiffener (4) which has a thickening (7) to close the connecging gap. The U-shaped holder (1) has sawtooth projections (1a) which interact with projections (4a,5b) on the stiffeners. ADVANTAGE - Reliable hold even for straight cover sections.
