PURPOSE:To obtain the title material having many interconnected cells of a specified diameter and suited as a catalyst, an adsorbent or the like by forming a cellulose (derivative) solution into a yarn or a film, freezing this yarn or film by cooling and extracting the solvent from the frozen body. CONSTITUTION:Cellulose or its derivative (e.g. cellulose acetate) is dissolved in a solvent (e.g. aqueous cuprammonium solution), and the obtained solution is formed into a yarn or a film. This yarn or film is frozen by cooling to a temperature lower than the solidification temperature of the solution, and the solvent is extracted from it or is deprived of its solvency, and the cellulose derivative, if used, is regenerated into cellulose. In this way, a yarn-like or film-like porous cellulose material having many cells of a diameter >= about 2mum, separated from each other by films and interconnected to each other through the apertures in the films which separate the adjacent cells from each other to form an interconnected porous structure, is obtained. |
