During or after manufacture, specific regions of the roller body are subjected to tension stresses exceeding those experienced in transport and operation. This causes local plastic deformation in edge regions of the graphite lamellae. The result is that on completion, elastic behavior is exhibited up to the level of tension applied, i.e. permanent deformation no longer occurs. Tension stresses are applied rotationally-symmetrically about the axis. Application is preferable successive. An Independent claim is also included for the manufacture of the roller body.
