PURPOSE:To make a device main body smaller and lighter by switching a DOS only by means of inserting a memory card. CONSTITUTION:A memory card controller 20 possesses two card slots A and B, and the card slot A is made into the one where the DOS can be set. When a memory card 32 storing the specific DOS is inserted to the card slot A, a CPU 11 stores the DOS stored into the memory card 32 into a RAM 13. Thus only by selectively inserting, for example, the memory card storing the English DOS or the memory card storing the Japanese DOS to the card slot, the English DOS can be easily and promptly switched to the Japanese DOS. In addition, since the external storage provided with a rotary driving mechanism such as a floppy disk drive is made unnecessary, the device main body can be made smaller and lighter, and the portable small-sized personal computer can be easily realized.
