PURPOSE:To obtain a thin and uniform protective lubricating film by forming the protective lubricating film consisting of compds. having prescribed compsn. on a magnetic layer and/or the floating surface of the floating type magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:The protective lubricating film 11 is provided on the magnetic layer of the magnetic recording medium and/or at least the floating surface of the floating type magnetic head 1. The compds. to be used for this lubricating film 11 are >=1 kinds of the compds. expressed by the formula I. In the formula, each of R1 and R2 is respectively 4 to 36C alkyl groups, more particularly preferably straight chain satd. alkyl group of CnH2n+1 (n=6 to 36, more preferably n=8 to 36). R1, R2 may be different from each other and are more preferably the same as each other. L is a tervalent group, more particularly preferably the groups expressed by the formula II, the formula III and the formula IV.
