Process for regenerating a reforming catalyst, the reforming being performed in at least two reactors in series, through which the catalyst and the feedstock circulate in succession, the pressure in the first reactor through which the catalyst and the feedstock pass being at a pressure of between 3 and 8 bars. The regeneration process is characterised in that the spent catalyst encounters in succession a first radial combustion zone containing a moving bed 101, a second radial combustion zone containing a moving bed 105, an axial chlorination or oxychlorination zone containing a moving bed 107 and an axial calcination zone containing a moving bed, and in that in the combustion zones 116 the catalyst is treated at a pressure substantially equal to that which prevails in the said first reactor, with a combustion gas, the gases from burning are discharged from the second burning zone and are divided into two parts, a first part is mixed with the gases discharged from the oxychlorination zone, the mixture thus obtained being conveyed into a scrubbing loop, a second part is mixed, on the one hand, with an inert gas containing oxygen and, on the other hand, with at least one chlorine compound, with a view to feeding the oxychlorination zone. <IMAGE>
