PURPOSE:To efficiently eliminate a clogging using small ink consumption amount by providing control means for selectively conducting a recording liquid idle discharging operation to each discharge port based on recording liquid discharge information of each discharge port detected by means for detecting recording liquid. CONSTITUTION:When a power is turned ON, a head unit is raised upward about 1mm by head moving means. If there is an idle discharge signal in this state, idle discharging is executed predetermined times from all discharge ports. That is, after an idle discharging is started, ink is sequentially discharged from the discharge port of the end. Since the irregularity of ink discharging speed is normally about 10%, time of 120% of standard delay time is used as a limit, and if ink droplet is not detected within this time, it is judged as an incomplete discharge, and the number of the discharge port is stored. After the respective discharge ports finish one ink discharging, if all the discharge ports are completely discharged, ink droplet detecting means is then turned OFF, and an idle discharging is finished. If there is the discharge port of incomplete discharge in the idle discharging operation, ink idle discharging is again repeated only for the discharge port of the stored number until the idle discharging operation becomes normal. |
