PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for an absorbing material of a large capacity to make a cartridge case small in size by forming a waste ink absorbing part containing a polymer absorbing material in a bag-type waste ink bag. CONSTITUTION:In an ink cartridge 20 for an ink jet printer containing an ink bag 1 made of a sheet material and filled with an ink and a waste ink recovery part for recovering a waste ink in the same containing part, a waste ink bag 3 made of a sheet body, such as a film, is bonded on a upper cover 11 at a part A. Furthermore, a waste liquid port 3a welded to the waste ink bag 3 by a heat seal method is also fixed to a cartridge case 10. A polymer absorbing material 4 is contained inside the waste ink bag 3. The polymer absorbing material 4 has a weight as large as that all the ink in the ink bag 1 can be absorbed, but in an initial stage the absorbing material 4 having expanding properties has a weight approximately 1/20 - 1/100 of the weight of the ink in the ink bag 1 and does not occupy a large space. |
