PURPOSE:To discriminate the generating cause of deformation in an image by providing a blank lamp forcibly lighting means and allowing it to light for a specified time in response to the output of an inspection mode setting means, during a copying operation. CONSTITUTION:An inspection mode setting key 3 is provided inside operation keys 2, and the inspection mode is set to inspect the deformation of the copied image. Then, at the time of copying, CPU 7, which is the blank lamp controlling means, responds to an output of the inspection mode setting means and the blank lamp 6 is lit, based on its controlling action. The lamp 6 is lit for a specified time, and unnecessary electrostatic charge of a photosensitive drum and a sensor 5 are eliminated. Further, when a stripe is shown in the copied image by the lamp 6, the cause of the deformation can be discriminated by whether the stripe is parallel or not to the edge part of the copying paper. If it is parallel, the cause is judged to be due to an optical system, and if it is not parallel, the cause is judged to be due to a paper carrying mechanism. |
