A sheet or strip of electromagnetic-shielding material 1 comprises a non-woven fabric flexible enough to be wound around a flat cable 3 or a cable (5) of small diameter, and conductive particles are applied to the surface of the non-woven fabric. Alternatively the sheet may be formed into an envelope to protect an integrated circuit on a printed circuit board. The particles may be silver, copper or carbon and applied to the fabric in or by immersion in a liquid containing the particles and a dissolved binder. Adhesive may be applied to one side of the strip to secure it to the cable. The electromagnetic- shielding material thus protects the cable (3, 5) from electromagnetic waves from the outside and prevents malfunction from occurring due to electromagnetic noise. <IMAGE>
