PURPOSE:To enable to smoothly deliver letters and cards one by one by a method wherein the thickness of letters and cards such as postal matter or the like are detected and counted and a shifting mechanism of letters and cards is shifted in proportion to the shifting amount calculated based upon said counted values and instructed thickness and to the displacement amount of a pressure detection lever. CONSTITUTION:Letters and cards 17 stood upright on a feed table 16 are fed one by one by means of an outward carrier belt 19 and counted with a counter 31 and the shifting amount in proportion to the thickness of letters and cards counted is calculated at a multiplier 32 in order to drive a pulse motor 14 so as to shift a feed pin 15 by every predetermined distance. Under the state as mentioned above, when no pressure is turned to be applied on letters and cards due to the difference between the indicated mean thickness and the actual thickness of letters and cards, the pressure detection lever 21 pivots so as to allow either or all of light- receiving elements 24-26 to issue H signals. A controlling circuit 33 initializes a counter 31 and a shifting amount calculating circuit 34 and as well as shifts the feed pin 15 so as to heighten the pressure to be applied on latters and cards at high speed when all the light receiving elements 24-26 issue H signals or at medium speed when the light receiving elements 24 and 25 issue H signals or at low speed when the light receiving element 24 issues a H signal. Accordingly, even when letters and cards are delivered while the detection lever is kept depressed, letters and cards can be delivered smoothly one by one. |
