Synchronous machine

In the case of a permanent-magnet-energised synchronous machine, especially a three-phase generator for motor vehicles, the rotor is surrounded on the air gap by a zone (which is made of a material which is electrically conductive but cannot be magnetised and rotates with said rotor without any slip) in order to regulate the voltage as a function of the rotation speed. This zone can be formed by a solid hollow cylinder or a hollow cylinder having a cage structure, in each case made of copper, aluminium, brass or the like, or the permanent magnets, which are held on the circumference of the rotor and are made of permanent-magnet material, themselves form this zone (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
