PURPOSE:To stop copying when a document is not set by detecting the existence of the document and the opening and closing of a document cover and inhibiting the start of copying when the existence of the document and the opening of the document cover are not detected after completing the copying in which an automatic document feeder is used. CONSTITUTION:A sensor 310 detects the conveyance of the document to the document cover 301. A sensor 311 detects the ejection of the document to an ejection tray 304. By opening the document cover 301 and placing the document on a document glass plate 11, a sensor SE3 in a main body 1 detects the opening and closing of the document cover 301. When the sensor SE3 detects that the document cover 301 is closed, an operation in an automatic document feeding mode becomes possible. When the document cover 301 is not opened, the copying is not started even though a print key is depressed and a blank sheet of copy which is useless is prevented from occurring. |
