<p>PURPOSE:To minimize the redundancy of codes and to discriminate the mixture of two different code systems simultaneously with the data compression of KANJI (Chinese character) codes, by expressing KANJI in a 1.5-byte code and others in 1-byte codes in a small-sized KANJI processor, and giving a flag bit 1 or 0 to the head of each code. CONSTITUTION:The kind of KANJI is limited to KANJI in common use; KANJI is allotted to a 1.5 byte (12-bit) code system (a), and other characters[e.g. HIRAGANA (Japanese cursive syllabary)]are allotted to a 1-byte (8-bit) code system (b). Then, data on KANJI codes are compressed and the mixture of both the code systems is discriminated.</p> |
