PURPOSE:To improve the maintainability of a source program by absorbing automatically a patch into the source program. CONSTITUTION:A patch image extracting sub-mechanism 36 extracts each patch image unit 37 out of a patch image merge intermediate file 35. Then a coding pattern retrieving sub-mechanism 39 retrieves a coding pattern corresponding to the extracted unit 37 out of a coding pattern file 44. Thus the corresponding coding pattern is detected. This coding pattern undergoes the collation of patterns via a patch image coding pattern collation mechanism 38. Then the information proper to a source program is obtained via a patch image source converting sub-mechanism 40. Thus the source program is produced. As a result, the maintainability of the source program is improved.
