The compass saw has the saw-blade (35) attached to a rod (14) driven from a rotating gear (1) with a crankpin which engages a block which can slide in a horizontal guide (15) fixed to the rod (14). The upper (28) and lower (26) bearings can rotate about the vertical axis in the saw housing (29). In addition the lower bearing (26) can move at right angles to the plane of the blade (35) and is mounted so that it can be swung about an axis passing through the upper bearing. Locking devices hold the blade in its required position.
